Student Success

Campus Recreation provides information regarding the Student Recreation Center, intramural teams, fitness programs, outdoor adventures, and more. The staff of Campus Recreations strives to inspire and promote a positive, pursuit of a healthy lifestyle, and lifelong learning.

Center for Contemplative Studies is devoted to creating a culture of a contemplative approach to life and learning across campus. Its vision is to improve the physical and mental health and wellbeing of the West Chester University community.

Center for Women & Gender Equity promotes a campus culture and climate that supports principles of social justice, equity, inclusion, and community. We advocate for a campus community that values the safety, equality, and intellectual advancement of women and historically marginalized groups at West Chester University. The CWGE serves people of all genders.

Counseling & Psychological Center offers many services, such as individual consultations about personal problems, group meetings, and help with substance abuse. Students can call to make appointments and faculty/staff can call to ask for support with helping students. The WCU Counseling Center also has a new unique online service that is offered to WCU students.

The Humanity & Resiliency Project was developed by Counseling & Psychological Services to foster the resilience of West Chester University students, faculty, staff, and the overall campus community by encouraging connecting with each other through shared humanity or vulnerability. 

The Center for Trans and Queer Advocacy assists students in their gender identities, providing information, events, training, and a safe space. Faculty advisors should participate in Ally training to allow them to be the most effective supporters of their Trans and Queer advisees.

Multicultural Affairs (Dowdy Multicultural Center) works to develop an inclusive and welcoming campus community. The department invests in diversity through offering a variety of events, clubs, and forums to prospective and current students.

Public Safety offers many services, such as police, parking services, residence hall security, crisis response, campus safety, and emergency preparedness.

Ram's Eye View (Student Handbook) produced by the Division of Student Affairs, provides information about student services on campus, student activities, university policies, and the West Chester community.

Resource Pantry provides direct services to student who are facing financial hardship with the goal of eliminating barriers to degree completion. The pantry provides non-perishable food items, school supplies, business attire, and winter clothing to any student in need.

Sexual Misconduct Resources are available to students who believe they may have been victimized sexually or have been accused of sexual misconduct. Advisors can consult these to inform their advisees of reporting requirements and campus processes for redress. Students should know that all faculty must report to the Office for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion any incidents of sexual misconduct (unless they were noted during a classroom discussion, in a writing assignment for a class, or as part of a University-approved research project). Please see either of these web pages to learn the offices where students can discuss this type of problem confidentially.

Student Assistance provides assistance and support for students who are away from the campus for a minimum of three class days due to illness, personal or family emergencies. A note will be circulated to the student's professors advising the professor of the absence. The student is also encouraged to contact his/her professors to make arrangements on any missed work.

Student Health Center & Services (SHS) provides services for students seeking well and sick case visits, as well as sexual and reproductive care. Staff can also provide basic suturing and IV therapy, as well as laboratory testing. SHS does have a limited supply of certain medications if a provider recommends a medication to a student to treat a particular illness. We cannot fill outside prescriptions. SHS does not process items through private medical insurance. Payment is not collected at the time of service. All charges are uploaded to the student’s Bursar account.

Wellness Promotion engages students in intentional educational opportunities to cultivate life-long learning and a community of well-being. There are a variety of programs, services and resources available for students as well as available student engagement opportunities.

Bursar's Office aids students with financial questions, support, and payments. The Bursar’s Office offers information on billing, tuition & fees, direct deposits, and payment plans.

Frederick Douglass Society(FDS) works to stimulate other groups on campus to enrich our multicultural climate. The Society annually raises money for scholarship funds to increase the economic options available to the student body and to persons of color and those from other ethnic groups as well.

Office of Student Conduct enforces WCU’s Student Code of Conduct. Guarantees due process and protects the individual freedom of the students, as well as requiring his or her responsibility and accountability for misconduct.

Ram eCard Office assists students with obtaining new Ram eCards (Student ID Card), identifies on and off campus locations that accept Ram Meal Plans and Ram Bucks, depositing money in account, and much more.

Residence Life & Housing Services houses approximately 1,450 students on north campus and 500 students on south campus. WCU believes living in University housing is an integral part of a student’s educational experience and provides opportunities for both personal and social growth.

Rams After Hours is a free, late night program for West Chester University students. Every Friday night, during the academic year from 8:00 pm - 12:00 am, Sykes Student Union will host various interactive live events including carnivals, comedians, live music, dances and more. Every week there will be a take home novelty and free food. All Rams After Hours events are completely free to WCU students.

Sykes Student Union offers a wide variety of cultural, social, educational, and recreational programs, as well as dining opportunities, and is home to the SSI Bookstore.

Programming includes a variety of formats, ranging from the newest in indie/alternative to specialty shows in rock, country, metal, and electronica as well as live broadcasts of Golden Rams sports games. Our signal can be reached at 91.7 FM for those who live in a 5-mile radius of Sykes Student Union, or online through www.wcur.org.

ROTC provides college-trained officers for both the active and reserve components of the U.S. Army. As the largest single source of Army officers, ROTC fulfills a vital role in providing mature young men and women for leadership and management positions in an increasingly technical Army.

Veterans’ Center (Greg and Sandra Weisenstein) helps vets with their GI benefits, offers a veterans’ support group, and has a veterans’ lounge. The director will also help faculty advise their veteran students.
