Career Closet
The Career Closet provides current students with free access to work appropriate attire and accessories for a variety of business casual and business professional occasions. With the goal of the Career Closet being that every student can look and feel their most confident in any professional setting, we ask that all donations are in new or like new condition, with no stains, rips, pilling, or other signs of significant wear.
How The Closet Works
The Career Closet is open to ALL undergraduate and graduate students, and alumni of West Chester University, regardless of need.
No appointment is necessary; walk-ins are welcome at any time during our hours of operation. During the Spring and Fall semesters - the closet is open Monday through Friday between 8:30am and 4pm, no appointment needed. During university breaks and during winter/summer sessions the office is remote various days, please call ahead before stopping by our space (610-436-2501).
What We Offer
The Career Development Center recognizes that each student has their own preferences for the attire they feel most comfortable wearing. The Career Closet offers a variety of both feminine-cut and masculine-cut options to support individual preferences and needs. All items are free to students and theirs to keep.
Items we distribute: blazers and suit jackets, suits, dress pants and trousers, skirts and dresses, blouses and professional tops, button-down and polo shirts, sweaters and cardigans, ties and bowties, and shoes.
Ways to support the Career Closet
Financial Contributions: Monetary donations are greatly appreciated and allow us to purchase items the Career Closet needs most.

You can also mail a check to West Chester University Foundation, 202 Carter Drive, West Chester, PA 19382. Checks should be made payable to WCU Foundation. In the memo line, please add Career Development Fund/Career Closet.
Clothing and Accessories Contributions: In-person donations are accepted during Career Closet hours of operation.

The Career Closet is located in the Lawrence Center, between the Student Recreation Center and Commonwealth Hall. The back of the building faces S. New Street; however, there is no direct vehicle access to the building.
For drop-offs:
Pull up between Commonwealth Hall and the Lawrence Center, near the Health Center entrance off S. New Street.
Visitors may briefly park with their hazard lights on while a member of our office comes out to assist with unloading.
Please call our office (610-436-2501) when you are nearby or have arrived so that we can assist you with your donation.
Donation Drives
WCU student organizations and departments, companies, community organizations, and other interested parties are welcome to sponsor a donation drive for items needed for the Career Closet. Please reach out to us at cdc@wcupa.edu to learn more and coordinate a donation drive.
