Community Mental Health Services
WCU Community Mental Health Services is affiliated with the West Chester University Doctor of Psychology (Psy.D.) Program. CMHS serves as a training center for graduate students in the Psy.D. Program and as a clinical research site for faculty in the Psychology Program. . As a non-profit training and research facility, CMHS provides low-cost, high-quality psychotherapy and testing for members of the greater West Chester community, staff and faculty of WCU, as well as WCU students referred from the University Counseling Center.

- Specific duties as they relate to this department:
- • Answering phones • Scheduling client appointments through our electronic medical management system which requires specialized training • Data input • Cash handling • General Office • Customer Service • Other duties as assigned • Although not required for the position, preference will be given to someone who can speak spanish.
- Learning Outcomes:
- The student will acquire an in-depth understanding of the front office of a multi-faceted, multi-cultural clinical service environment and will gain valuable interpersonal skills through their interaction with various community members, faculty, staff and students. Other skills that will be strengthened through the experience are verbal and written communication, time management, data entry, and customer service skills. These skills are transferable to a broad variety of academic and professional settings. The student will also gain firsthand experience on the challenges of effectively communicating with diverse target audiences within the community and working with individuals in a clinical setting. The student will build skills and experience in organization administration, project management, networking, and community relations.
