Jade Burris is a faculty member in the department of Early and Middle Grades Education. Her area of interest is early childhood teacher preparation, development, and professional learning, specifically inquiry to investigate the tensions between evolving individual beliefs and actions in practice. Dr. Burris teaches early childhood courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels. In 2022, she was awarded the WCU E. Riley Holman Memorial Faculty Award for teaching excellence and fostering student creativity. Her recent work has focused on high-impact issues including early childhood program quality, technology adoption, teacher mentorship, practitioner research, and retention in education.
