Christopher Hanning, Dean of the Wells School of Music says, “Many members of our community don’t realize that our student and faculty performances are open to the public. Now, when audiences are hungry for live entertainment options, we are thrilled to be able to open our doors for public performances. Our expert faculty, who perform nationally and internationally, can be heard for free in an up-close and personal setting, and the excellent quality of our students and student ensembles are also on display.”

Fall highlights include five faculty recitals to kick-off the month of September: Vincent Craig, piano, on September 13, The Dalí Quartet on September 19, Gloria Galante, harp, on September 20, and Grammy award-winner David Cullen, guitar, on September 27th. Faculty recitals continue throughout the semester.

Other performances this fall include the beloved Criterions Jazz Ensemble on September 24; the West Chester University Symphony Orchestra on October 1; the Wind Ensemble and Wind Symphony perform together on October 7; and the Fall Choral Festival takes place on October 26. All four concerts are in the Emilie K. Asplundh Concert Hall. The West Chester University Opera Theatre will stage a rousing production of ROBIN HOOD on November 12 and 13.

The 100th Anniversary of the Holiday Program, a time-honored tradition that is well-attended by alumni, students, parents, and members of the surrounding community, is the culmination of the fall season. Many of the school’s ensembles come together to perform seasonal selections to help ring in the holidays. The program is on December 11 at 3 p.m.

All faculty, staff, students, and visitors, regardless of vaccination status, are required to wear a mask that covers the nose and mouth when indoors. Face masks may be worn when outdoors, but it is not an obligation of this policy notice. Mask and COVID-19 safety measures at West Chester University will continue to be updated here. Please check ahead for updated information before attending your performance.
