                Biography
            Before she joined the WCU Department of History, Dr. Malkin-Fontecchio was an Assistant Professor at Lebanon Valley College. Tia Malkin-Fontecchio received her BA in Latin American Studies and Latin American Language and Literature from the University of California at Berkeley in 1994. She received her MA and PhD in Latin American history from Brown University in 1996 and 2003 respectively. She has lived in Recife, Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo, Brazil. Her research interests include educational reform and inequality in Brazil, as well as state authoritarianism. Dr. Malkin-Fontecchio's current research focuses on historical film.
